I got a dose of GAS back in August. I'd never really given much consideration to owning a 7 string flying V before until I saw Crypta guitarist Tainá Bergamaschi playing a black V from a company called Solar. I'd never heard of them before so I browsed to their site out of curiosity. It turns...
Here you go:
Example 1: Simple 4 note per string chromatic, up and down the strings.
Example 2: Similar to above, but you shift up 1 fret after the first 4 notes on the high E string. Repeat descending, going up 1 fret after playing the first 4 notes on the low B.
Example 3...
I've just had a listen to that track myself and I have to say it's great. The guitars and drums mesh really well. Did you use a VST like Superior Drummer for the drums or did you sit yourself behind the kit?
Just to clarify this, Rondo doesn't have a returns policy for Europe full stop. If something happens in transit then you're out of luck. I got that straight from an e-mail conversation with Kurt himself last year. That would have been the end of my dealings with them as there was no way I was...
That's interesting that you have the opposite experience to me. Just curious though, if one neck is fat and the other is thin then the feel can't be the same can it?
Out of curiosity, for anyone that's played both Ibanez and Schecter basses, how do the necks compare in general? I have found that Schecter guitars sound wonderful but the chunky necks don't agree with me at all and I'm wondering if the bass necks are similar.
I find it's more of a useful guide rather than an unbreakable rule. I find some fast-paced songs written for a four string bass (e.g. Metallica songs off Kill 'Em All) a bit easier to play on a 5/6 string bass if I keep my thumb on the B string.
I play both bass and guitar and I found that playing fingerstyle helped me to think more as a bassist. Having said that, I still do use a pick for some songs and I would highly recommend not dismissing one method of playing over another. They both have their uses. If you do decide to try...
I've got an Ibanez K5 and I love it. It cost me around €500 a few years ago. For a 5 string bass it feels very light but thankfully doesn't neck dive. Thinking about the neck, it's very flat and almost the same width as my Squier Precision 4 string bass so I had very little difficulty...
My price range would be up to about 1500. Soundwise I play low-tuned metal mostly just chugging away on the Agile tuned to F.
Yes, the Peavey 6505 does seem to be mentioned quite a bit and is well within my price range. If it's good enough for someone like Rob Flynn it should be good enough for...
I'm sure this question has been asked a lot before but before you respond with "Just do a search" please hear me out :). In a nutshell, I'm a bassist who also plays guitar. Circumstances have dictated that the only active band that I am part of has a bass player who's better than me but still...
It's a bit of a wasteland for instruments that are a little outside the norm. A band from near there was looking for a bassist last year. I made contact and arranged a time to jam. I brought along my 6 string bass and was greeted with a "What the fuck is that?" comment from the guitarist when I...
I would definitely agree with the general consensus that the bass player should be helping out with the maintenance costs while he's using gear that's not his own. I also agree 100% with what 155 wrote about how the bassist's top priority should be getting new gear.
I can't really help on achieving that tone but just to clarify Chickenhawk's comment, according to Roger Beaujard's Wikipedia page, GRINDBot is a
A MySpace page for the band is here and there is an official site here but it appears broken for me.
Hope that helps :).
This may be of some help. I've re-linked to the images in this post so they are visible again rather than just being some borked HTML:
