This forum needs new threads, so:
I've got a Dean Z (Explorer) which I want to put in B standard. Anyone who uses this tuning and scale, any suggestion for string gauges. I don't want super crazy thick strings, and some looseness is ok. I'm not going for a super tight / modern sound anyways...

I've been looking for a decent short scale bass, and this might fit the bill. Birdsong/Shortbass is first on my list but the /$ exchange rate isn't that great right now. This I might be able to get cheaper.
I've got a set of these, with the hot/ground black/braided wire + White coil tap wire. If I want to wire them without the coil tap active, should I just tape it (the white wire) and leave it hanging?
Looks like I've lost my skills with them Googles and can't really find a straight answer to...
This is an interesting thing, which I picked up on a whim. As far as the seller could remember it's a chambered mahogany body w. a set maple neck (that's wrapped in layers of carbon fiber sheet). I don't know if he was the builder also, it never came up but it could be - he's known for doing...
...or baritone-like guitars with the same or less amount of those, you know, confusing strings.
I got the Ibanez SRC6, and know about it's relatives (Fender Bass VI, Schecters version etc.) and some manufacturers short scale basses (Gibson / Epi SG's, Warwick Short scale corvettes etc.), but...
...the body art models, to be exact? A particular weirdness of the early '00s BC Rich lineup. This is the Skull Pile V model - the most death metal of them all. :D
Came to me via trade - we exchanged some cheapos, the previous owner got my Ibanez jazz box (AF55) i really didn't bond with and I...
I've got a JCM800KK, and with the beast mode it's great. Gives nice OD/boost and cleans well with the volume pot on the guitar (which I use for cleans etc.) which I like very, very much. It doesn't work that well with my TS808 Reissue (Beast mode off, of course), even though it gets cleaner it...
The title might not be technically 100% correct, but anyways.. what do you do when you have amp GAS? You get a Marshall and be done with it. :D
I got tired of my Blackstar HT-1 combo's obvious limitations, even though the sound still is pretty awesome for a tiny combo (and even better with an...
I've got an EMG (soapbar) equipped guitar coming in, and I'm right away thinking about changing the bridge PU to passive - reason being that I've become a fan of the volume pot. On my other guitars I tweak it to get cleaner sounds and I know from experience that active EMG's don't really do that...
Don't worry, we'll get to the title part in the end. Even though you'd wish eventually that we didn't.
But anyways, I've been always saying that I like Ibanez as a brand and dig the stuff they make, except for two pretty important things: flat fretboards and skinny necks. Lately however I've...
First, a couple of pics: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/03wxdpp8h10m29r/AAAqI3a0sSbQv70e8WrvS8HMa
This all started with my GAS towards a SRV Strat. Didn't have the money to get the real deal, so I decided that maybe it's time to assemble a partscaster.
The most logical solution would be to get a...
I'm not sure if this is the right section, so feel free to move it if necessary.
Rig Rundown: Tony MacAlpine | Premier Guitar
...and for some reason to me more important than the gear itself, is the fact that one of the more famous guitar player's guitar player and all around (based on...
Alas, after so much pondering and verifying specs all over the internets (see thread here: http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/standard-guitars/281888-fender-experts-help-needed-asap.html) - I have acquired one of those guitars I've wanted for a long time: YJM Signature Strat.
Like stated in the...
I've got a deal in the making here for an American Fender artist strat. Serial is S E92**** - The Guitar dater Project says it's from Corona '89, and the info on Fender.com says this also.
The weird bit: According to the pictures sent by the seller the neck heel has a stamp from April 19...
So, here's a NGD-thread for my new Gibson Midtown Kalamazoo, which I already flashed in the latest Gibson topic. Short version:
Is it good? Indeed it is. :yesway::agreed:
..and the long version: came to me via trade, and in it's in mint condition. Has all the case candies, (naturally) the...
It's been a while since I got these but haven't had the time even to snap a couple of shots.
Both come from the orient, the ESP is naturally MIJ and the Fernandes (VE06) is a MIC. Qualitywise, besides the obvious (Gotoh HW on the ESP etc.) you can feel the difference in the minor details but...
I'm looking for a bridge HB that cleans up well when your riding the volume knob but has enough output to be used in medium/hi-gain settings. I tend to skip using different channels between distortion and "clean" (which really isn't Jazzy clean but a less more saturated tone) and just tweak the...
I've been on a late summer shopping/trading spree lately, and this is a first of a couple of NGD/NBD's coming up.
It's a MIK BTB, with the older less sleek shape and a bolt on neck. Bartolini MK1 PU's, active electronics etc.
I remember trying one of these years ago, and remember only that...
There's been more Parker activity than usual on this forum lately, so I think this acquisition will fit right in. AFAIK this is the v3/4 of this guitar, as it has the stereo/mono switch for the PU's/Piezo. Completely stock: DiMarzios, Sperzels, etc.
I was looking for a versatile guitar for...
It's thrashing time! Epiphone Jeff Waters Annihilation V:
This was more or less an impulse buy, I put a WTB ad just for the heck of it to a local musician's site thinking no one would really have one, and especially not in red. But alas, a day later I got a "I've got one which I don't need"...
