ok, probably i just didnt realise this before, but there is a little buzzing on every switch setting! when i am on the bridge pickup, the emg 81, the buzzing is really quiet. on the mid position it is a little louder and on the neck the buzzing is pretty loud...
ok, now it's still buzzing, but when i'm touching the switch for example, it stops. so i guess the problem is the grounding right? how do i do this correctly? i mean grounding the passive pickup
about 2) can i just solder the ground wire from bridge to the third loop of my passive pickup volume pot? and what about the bare wire then (you can see it in both pictures)? because that is supposed to be the ground i guess...does it have to remain?
about 3) sorry, but i dont get about what...

would it be dumb to try to use this on a 25.5 scale for drop b tuning and not using the .10 and .64? right now i have a .68 for the low b and for me it feels like it is still too soft...
hi everyone,
first of all sorry if there is already a similar thread, but i couldn't find anything that helps me...
what my problem is: i've had a guitar with seymour duncan passive pickups and i wanted to change the bridge pickup with an EMG 81. i only have 2 pots, so i could find out that i...
sorry for asking again, but with "here" i meant this wiring diagram https://www.emgpickups.com/content/wiringdiagrams/H_0230-0106D.pdf
and about that buzzing...is that probably the buzzing i am talking about in my problem 1?
thx a lot to Navid!!!
i just have some small issues left:
1. the bridge pickup and the mid switch (bridge and neck together) works correctly as far as i can see/hear, when i switch to the neck pickup, i have this buzzing all the time...
2. do i have to ground the switch to the battery bus? if...
if i take a look at your diagramm, it seems like i just have to tap the red and white wire together and not solder them anywhere!?
if you take a look at my pot again, is it correct that the black wire goes to the input (the left loop of the volume pot) and the other two wires (green and bare)...

ok, i really tried to work this out myself for the last 2 days, but i think i have no idea at all and need help!
my problem is: i got the emg 81 solderless version and it would be no problem at all if i had 2 pickups with solderless version. but now my neck pickup is a seymour duncan with 5...
if i don't have a tone pot, it will always sound like it is open/full? if that's right, i think 2 volume pots would be the best solution, because my tone pot is always open anyway...
so is this correct: if i want one passive and one acitve pickup in the same guitar it has to have 2 volume pots? if it doesnt have 2 volume pots, i have to decide to go with a 250k pot active or 500k with passive!?
