    Just Ordered Some Blackouts.

How do the Blackouts compare to EMGs (eg. 81-7)? What's the tone like? I know Dino is using Blackouts... I take it that you still have to do some routing if you are replacing a set of passives, right?

Retrofit floating bridge on Xiphos 7

I was reckoning on going for the LO PRO anyway, as that's what I'm used to on my other main 7, and it's a really stable bridge that can put up with a lot of shit, in my experience. What I didn't realize was that the mounting arrangements are different for all of the Ibanez trems (with the...

Retrofit floating bridge on Xiphos 7

That Xiphos is my wet dream, and is exactly what I wanted to acquire! Who did the work on it, and did they run into any technical difficulties?

Retrofit floating bridge on Xiphos 7

I've been in touch with some luthiers near where I'm living (Manson Guitars - they also make custom guitars, and are pretty well renowned for this), and they don't seem to think that it'd be a problem to carry this mod out, as they made a price quote and everything. Thanks for your...

Retrofit floating bridge on Xiphos 7

Definitely not? Shit, man. There goes that idea. Thanks for clearing it up for me, though.

Retrofit floating bridge on Xiphos 7

There is something about the Xiphos that appeals to me. There is, however, one big obstacle that would prevent me from getting one. I'm sure that this is a sticking point for a fair number of you out there, too, and that is: WHY IS THERE NO FLOATING BRIDGE (unless you're Mohammed Suiçmez)?! I...

    Ibanez 7 String Locknut

Yeah, but they weren't Ibanez manufactured. I was led to believe from the store that they would be. It was of the same dimensions (at least upon a visual check), but the spacing of the securing bolts was different. Anyway, thanks for the pointers, guys, appreciate it, I most certainly will...

    Ibanez 7 String Locknut

Am I the only idiot here that has cross threaded and then stripped the lowest hole on an Ibanez locknut? How come the actual locking nut seems to be of a softer material than the screws themselves? Surely it would be more practical the other way around? Anyway, my rant aside: I am in the...

    Ibanez K7 EMG questions

Dudes/dudettes, Been idling toying with the idea of installing EMGs into my Ibanez K7. Just toying, mind, because I am sort of the school of thought "what ain't broke, don't fix". However, indulge me if you will, with any thoughts or comments on these 2 comments/questions (haven't decided how...

    DDDorian's Guitar Lesson/Column DDDirectory

AUGUST 2006 - GUITAR TECHNIQUES - Rusty Cooley's Workout From Hell! I've got this one, but if anyone has the chance to see the video of the crazy fool playing the examples, see it! Apart from that. Great idea man, well executed. Thanks. :-)

    So who here likes Meshuggah

Don't know if anyone has already mentioned it, but check out "I". It's probably the best I've heard from them imo.

    Composite Amps

cheers guys. I got flamed on another website for the same post. Just need to know what general stuff I should be looking at!

    Composite Amps

Alrighty then, I'm just curious about buying individual preamps, poweramps and cabs as opposed to getting ahold of the full whack in a single head. I know that it is a case of testing it all all out myself and trusting my ears etc to find out exactly what I need, but I'd appreciate a few...

    UK Musician Thread

Hi guys, and thanks for welcoming me and all. I kind of thought that it was more of a US based site and all (no offense intended towards the americans on here at all btw), and it's cool to see some people on here from this part o' the world!

Paul Gilbert - Space Ship One

I second that opinion. :agreed: Come to think of it, I haven't really listened to anything of his that I haven't liked to some degree!

    UK Musician Thread

Hi guys/gals, Just as a matter of curiosity, I wondered how many people from the UK are on this site. Now, I know there are plenty of other websites dedicated to getting musicians together in any given area, but I kind of figured that maybe a UK only thread would encourage people from...

    Pickups for a mahogany guitar?

I agree with this comment. The neck pickup sounds great, really warm and "alive" sound. The brige pickup, imo, sometimes leaves a little to be desired when you get up the higher regions
