Hey guys,
for reasons unbeknownst to me I wanted to check what serial# my 5150II head has. Turns out there is no plaque at the bottom of the chassis, which google image search revealed seems to be the likely spot for it. Maybe I've been ripped off all those years ago when I was younger and...
The band I joined a while ago, replaced the lead guitarist. Melodic Metal with some Thrash influences. A lot of clean vocals, some not-so-clean vocals. :D
I'd love a matching headstock (and maple fretboard), but for now I'll leave the whole neck alone. Having zero experience with anything of this, I'm going to wait how the body turns out before ruining something else. One step at a time. :)
Swirling sounds like fun, but if I actually do the...
So, I finally decided to actually go ahead and mod one of my Jacksons.
It's a JDR94 concept - 25.5", Dinky, Reverse Headstock, HSH layout, no pickguard, Floyd Rose, likely basswood body (may be poplar or alder), dark metallic blue finish and collecting dust at the moment.
I bought it cheaply a...
This.
Another thing worth trying may be putting an EQ in your rig somewhere, or experimenting with different preamp-tubes. I have a Boss GE7 in the FX loop of my 5150II and that can make quite a difference, soundwise. It won't turn it into a Mark-series amp, but it may help fixing some of your...
If I understood you correctly there are pretty much two things you want to learn or improve: 1) how to play and 2) what to play.
You should find tons of material for #1, in book form or otherwise - Rock Discipline is a good book, as is Speed Mechanics For Lead Guitar by Troy Stetina or the...
This one may seem obvious, but what the hell.
One common, popular and extremely useful shortcut is memorizing all the names on one string and then simply going up one or more octaves (f.e. open E string, 1st octave is on 2nd fret D string, the next one on 5th fret b string etc). Knowing where...
Congrats! That's one beautiful piece of equipment. :)
I love the large 70s headstocks, and the dark shell pickguard/blonde finish contrast is really easy on the eyes as well. And the way you describe it, she sounds as good as she looks ;)
Zynewave Podium
For anyone interested in a free multitracker, you might also want to take a look at Podium. It's simple, works with VST(i)s, has MIDI support and whatnot (see "About" section on their page. Great stuff.
Hey everyone,
I'm currently in the process of changing and extending my recording setup and would like to hear your opinions about monitors.
At the moment, I use headphones for everything, but would like to get a decent pair of near-field monitors in the future. It'll be mostly used for my own...
I beg to differ.
I own several Jacksons and like them all very much. However.. my WRMG with the stock HZs sounded like utter crap. DiMarzios fixed that. I recommended the DK2 to a friend of mine, because I own one and it is a great-sounding guitar. However... his one sounds like utter crap...
I have no 1527, but changing the New 7s (DiMarzio OEM stuff) in my RG7620 to DiMarzio Blazes REALLY got that axe going and it brought it some fantastic tones. Go for it and get some decent PUs.
I got some useful information from this thread, too...
As for metal, you may want to give Emperor a shot. They really stand out and are far away from the black metal bands like Mayhem practice.
As for classical, it kinda depends on what flavor you like. Romantic stuff is what I can relate to the most - Beethoven, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Grieg...
This.
I also happen to like a lot of Shostakovich's and Rachmaninov's work, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy also comes to mind, but if it boils down to a single one... I'd have to go with good ol' Ludwig Van.
Cannibal Corpse:
Bloodthirst - Dead Human Collection and Pounded Into Dust are already worth the price.
The Bleeding - One for the whole family. Contains Fucked With A Knife, Stripped Raped and Strangled and Staring Through The Eyes Of The Dead, and the rest of the album isn't too shoddy...
I got my CD&Shirt preorder bundle on Saturday and I've been listening to it a lot, too. Fantastic stuff. A colleague at work asked me how I could listen to "such poppy crap"... I suspect he doesn't quite like it.
