Hello,
i've got my mesa/boogie dual caliber-5 for a few months now.
But ever since i've got it, i'm noticing it's clean isn't that clean at all.
I have like no mid nor gain on my A channel but still it hasn't got a real good clean tone.
I tried it on different cab's as well but still it has a...
So I'm seriously considering getting one of these and having it FJA-modded. After evaluating a bunch of different amps these two seemed to be solid choices.
Is it just a choice of do-you-like-6505-tone-over-Dual Rec-tone (or vice-versa)?
Is it as simple as liking one flavor of distortion over...

Hey all, just got these vids linked through a premier guitar emag subscription. I did a search and couldn't see a similar thread. Pretty interesting stuff.

First off I wanted to apologize ahead of time if I'm breaking the rules for posting in the marketplace just after I joined. I've lurked these forums for a few months but had no real reason to join. I just now wanted exposure for helping trade or sell my gear. Anyhoo, lets get to the point...
For sale or trade is a 1996 or 97 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier head (2 channel version), with serial number R-8734
Everything on this Dual Rec is in excellent condition, with the exception of the "on" light which appears to be blown. Has no affect on the amp in any way...all of the other lights...
I have a mesa dual rectifier, and the cab I have is not giving me the full effect of the mesa, and I want something that will bring it out. Right now, I have a Crate cab with celestion speakers.
I was thinking either Orange, or a Mesa Cabinet.
I want a really TIGHT sound, and I am planning...
So i've pretty much decided a mark iv is way to much money, and the price is right on the both these models. The only concern i have is the reviews i've read say the cleans start to break up, and become muddy easily, and their reliability sounds kind of 50/50. I don't need a 100 watt, but i...
I've done a lot of work now with my Rocktron rig, and I love the sound of it, but I'm looking for something different. I'll always have my Chameleon, but I'm seriously thinking of going to a Mesa preamp.
The TriAxis is nice, it's just not heavy enough for me. So, I'm thinking of either...
Well I sold my Randall MTS halfstack last weekend so I finally have funds for a new amp! Looks like I'm going to buy a Mesa Roadster! :hbang: Just a few questions for current owners:
1) Can you get smooth/liquid lead tones out of the amp at lower volumes?
2) Anyone who has...
Ease of Use
This much easier to deal with than the Road King. If you're used to a normal Recto, you can just turn it on and go, without having to spend much time on the back panel. The reverb level knobs now sit with the rest of the back panel channel controls. The effects loop is serial...
