Hey guys,

Some of you may remember the last build I posted in this thread which my brother in law very kindly built for me.

Well after completing his latest build I asked if he would be willing to build me a 7 string. I can't remember if I covered it in my last thread but he's interested in eventually launching his own brand and these builds are for general experience, experimental ideas and most importantly, for fun.

This was his latest build and after seeing it, I was sold on what I wanted my 7 string to be.

I basically said, that - but 7 strings, longer scale and a single Seymour Duncan Omega pickup.

So, here we go - build pics!

Swamp ash body with a maple top. Originally we decided on going with a plain maple cap as I wanted to go with a similar finish to his 6 string but the supplier sent him flamed maple by mistake. After seeing the flame, we decided it was way too good to pass up.

Ebony fretboard and padauk neck. We changed the head stock design ever so slightly.

Hipshot Ibby replacement bridge.

A few shots during the carving stage, the hole is for a single volume knob with push-pull for coil split.

Now here is where it gets awesome - Since I'd abandoned my idea of just a plain walnut finish I said "go crazy, do whatever you want".

At this point I had to scoop my jaw back up from the floor. He's planning on sanding back to blend the horn a little better and the orange to yellow but already I'm stoked AF.

Unfortunately that's all I've got at the moment folks. I will update this thread as more pictures are sent to me!

Apart from strap buttons - the guitar is finished! I'll be picking it up shortly but I thought I'd put the pics up here first.

So the brand name he's going for is "Déor". This is the first guitar he's built with a logo and prototype number 2 of his T type shape. I believe he'll be making a thread on here in the near future explaining the meaning behind the name, models, etc so I'll leave that for him.

I'll update with more pics/thoughts once I've got it and played it.

So after playing it for a few hours yesterday and a few today I'm super happy with it.

A few words about the Omega for anyone interested, at first I didn't like how grindy it was but it's grown on me. Its very similar to the Nazgul in my A7 but just a different character (I'm rubbish with terminology when it comes to sounds). It's a very snarly pickup that's tight and aggressive but cleans up well with the volume rolled off, better than the Nazgul to my ears. Also sounds pretty sweet when split. I have the guitar tuned to A standard with 9.5-60 gauge strings, I like quite a loose feel across the board, I'm not sure how the thinner gauge contributes to the sound but overall it sounds fantastic across the entire range.

That's a beautiful guitar, man! Congrats to both you and your brother.

After some time update us on that Padauk neck. I'm interested in using it as a neck material in future builds but i've heard that the orange in it has a tendency to bleed. Let us know if you come back with carrot fingers after playing it, haha

also that's a great finish. I like the natural look from the somewhat muted colors, but i would be interested to see what he does with some more vibrant hues.

Cheers man, much appreciated.

I'll do my best to remember to check in about the neck, never heard of the orange bleeding before.
