A year after being repainted, the electric guitar still smells like lacquer

Hi everyone.

The electric guitar was completely repainted with polyurethane lacquer at a guitar workshop.
The guys at the workshop said they use this lacquer on hundreds of guitars every year.
However, a year after the repainting, the guitar still has a characteristic solvent smell in hot weather. It feels slightly tacky to the touch, but this is just a sensation. The lacquer is actually fully hardened. However, it doesn’t feel the same as the factory finish on an USA Jackson. Can anyone explain why this is happening and how to completely eliminate the smell?

Thanks

It's obviously not gassed out properly, you could force it by applying some heat although there is a chance it could crack.

Some solvent could be trapped under the finish and still not hardened, probably never will now.

I have seen people completely rip it off and start again.

This is why I hate lacquer. Poly/oil finish or bust!!!
