Bands that play in A Standard?

Hey everyone,

Got my shiny new 7 string set up for A standard and between practicing technique(s) and writing stuff with a friend, I wanted to learn some material in that tuning for fun.

I can think of a few:

KoRn
Periphery (missing the 6th string)
Delain
Obscura
Fear Factory

Anything else worth checking out?

Yeah they do, I mean for their 6 string stuff they play some of it in AGCFAD, so I can ignore the D string on my 7 when I play that.

Also I thought Keith Merrow was in Drop A?

Ah I forgot that you meant A standard, apologies. I think Mastodon has some songs in A standard

Some of these could be wrong but AFAIK these bands have albums or songs in A standard tuning.

I have a text file somewhere with a list of bands and tunings. Obviously you know you can play Death, Necrophagist, children of Bodom etc since you're in D standard too.

Maybe older Beyond Creation? Afaik, E 8 string and A 7 string so the 8th wasn't a dominant role. May be wrong

Ah good shout! I was listening to Chimpspanner the other day and didn't even twig.

Another one is Behold by Born of Osiris. Stupidly difficult but it's in A standard.

You can also play a lot of Drop A songs like Rip and Tear from DOOM 2016. A lot of bands tend to just chug the open A5 so you can transpose it to A standard easy enough.

Yeah I've got no chance at playing that, hopefully one day I'll git gud enough to play the sweeping in XIV and learn Behold as well.

Some Bloodbath songs are in A Standard. Eaten is a fun classic to learn.
