But the question is, is that a good thing or a bad thing? This whole album sounds like btbam does dream theater to me tbh
Often even Dream TheaterAnyone "doing Dream Theater" is a bad thing.
Usually including Dream Theater...Often even Dream Theater
Haven't tried Automata yet but "BtBaM does Dream Theatre" was how I felt about Coma Ecliptic.
BTBAM and The Dear Hunter are similarly crushing the modern prog scene. Their split EP covers were excellent together.
To me, this reads like projection.so we can act like we're intellectuals
Well ofc that was a metaphor.
I mean to say they, to me, put a lot of arrangement filler and incohesive parts (like other-genre instrumental breaks of of nowhere, usually at a start-stop section) which don't actually serve the song nor add up to anything. Just feels pretentious to me since it doesn't make much sense songwriting-wise. All strictly IMHO of course.
TGM is maybe the only record I have left to check out. If you say it's more cohesive, I'll try giving it a spin.
The build up and breakdown in White Walls is super excellentWell ofc that was a metaphor.

Because two things for $14.99/each is better than one thing. (I honestly have no idea how much a CD costs anymore, I buy everything on Bandcamp)I feel like it's hit and then miss with BTBAM recently.
Really liked The Great Misdirect
Didn't like Parallax
Loved Coma Ecliptica
Didn't like Automata 1
No surprise but I really like Automata II. It feels really incomplete though, no idea why they didn't just take the strongest bits from both albums and make one really good one.
