This is my first post. I am about to buy my first 7-string guitar, an Ibanez RG2627ZE Prestige. I have been saving for a while now and I have see no reason not to get a 7-string vs a new 6-string prestige.
Do any fellow owners of the RG2627ZE have any information / advice about drawbacks comparing these two guitars, which are virtually identical in most ways.
I have read through the forums and found almost no downside of having the extra string for an extended range of sound.
I am also not a professional guitar player, I love progressive metal and I am learning more theory now, should I just continue my guitar study on the 7-string and treat it as a 6-string until I become more advanced?
Can I solve two problems with 1 guitar? I do want to be able to play lead and not only djent chugging. I have an idea of what the answers may be but I want to hear from the community as well.
