It currently has a Dimarzio D Activator in the bridge and I have not been able to dial out the honk. The 7th and 8th strings sound great, it is the standard tuned strings that sound terrible. I really like the harmonics you can get with the pickup though. My favorite pickup for 6 string is the Bill Lawrence L500XL so I am looking for something similar to that in an 8 string. I was thinking possibly a Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat, one of the Fluence options (not sure which, Abasi or Reyes possibly?), or even going Seymour Duncan custom route and getting something in the vain of a Jupiter.
I tend to use my volume knob for cleans so it needs to clean up fairly well and I really like using one coil from the neck and one from the bridge for a somewhat passable in-between tele sound/position 2 strat. My rig is a Wizard MCII through a 2x12 with Celestion Alnico Creams if that matters. Thoughts? Thank you.
