i usually re-wire all my guitars and basses to 1 volume pot, switch and no additional pots, this just works best for me.
i usually fill in the hole or i remove the pot all together and use a plug, this doesn't really work out the best and it always looks a off.
i tried to disassemble the pot and just use the shaft portion, but ruining a decent pot someone else can reuse doesn't make sense to me.
so i found this pack of 10 B type 20k pots for $7 at amazon, not only do they fit perfectly, knobs fit well and they are very small, so this helps with smaller cavities.
