I started building this guitar a few years ago and it is my #1. I was going to build some guitars as a hobby, but in an unrelated accident, I cut my left index finger off. Luckily, it is reattached and working (mostly), but the fanned frets just don’t work for me anymore. So after a year and a half of looking at this, I’m going to let it go.

The body is made from reclaimed pine from a barn in Maine. It is capped with maple. The neck is maple/rosewood/walnut/rosewood/maple. Fingerboard is Birdseye maple. Has a Stewmac truss rod. Hipshot locking tuners. Fishman fluence pickups. I can’t remember where I got the bridge saddles from, but they work well. It has push pull knobs and they go to 11, which is one louder, isn’t it?

Currently tuned EAEADGBE, have had it down to F#BEADGBE without any issues. Scale is 28/26

Here is the Good: The guitar is super comfortable to play, light and sounds great. The pickups sound good throughout the range and I liked playing an 8 string more than I thought I would.

Here is the Bad: I’m being honest as I can and picky. Some of the upper frets need replacing and re-dressing. I was anxious to play this and should have spent more time on the fretwork, but assumed I would just get to it later. After my accident Ive really lost all interest an woodworking and have no desire to go back into the shop at all. When I was cutting the headstock, I did it on the thin side, and when I strung it up, there is a bend in it. On the plus side, it has remained stable since I built it. I haven’t touched it since before my accident during quarantine last year (March/April) and it is still in tune. The pickup cavities are a little bit wide, but they aren’t really noticeable. There is a small gap on the treble side of the neck pocket.

Here is the Redemption for the lucky owner: I’m including a bundle of fret wire, fret dressing tools, some fret files and some other assorted tools to finally “tune” this bad boy up. It’s not a huge job, just one I’m not up to after my accident.

I’d like to get $500 for this, plus shipping to you. It has no case, but will be packaged within an inch of its life - my brother-in-law runs a pack and ship and is a musician, so he always does an amazing job with guitars and basses. I’m open to trades, but they should be really interesting
