The Last Waltz from Oldboy is at the top of my list.

And I cant forget Ulver's soundtrack albums, "Themes from William Blake's..." and "Svidd Neger" and "Lykantropen Themes"

Anything by Zbigniew Preisner, for Krzysztof Kieslowski's films.

Also, Javier Navarrete's score for Pan's Labyrinth:

:yesway: Ennio Morricone is the man.

John Barry's James Bond soundtracks kick glorious amounts of ass too, such as "The Living Daylights" and "Moonraker".

As much as I love John Williams' scores for the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series, I find that the music doesn't hold up very well without the movie to support it, i.e. when I just listen to the soundtrack on it's own, I get bored pretty quickly. Whereas John Barry and Ennio Morricone keep me entertained throughout.

This one gives me chills every time and every time I hear it I get this ominous feeling that something really bad is going to happen, and I'm going to be unable to move with fear.

This one isn't a movie, but it's still music composed for video art. This song is so amazing, and every time it plays something really chilly happens. I can always imagine the voice actor speaking with a huge sense of ego. I literally feel like everything goes black, and I see Light writing names frantically, his eyes crazy with the self-righteous evil pride.

If a song can do these to you, then indeed it is a good song.

Donnie Darko's soundtrack is amazing. I also like some songs from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, and of course, Lord Of The Rings.
