So I’v had tele gas for literally years but never found the right one until recently. I came across this 2011 60th Anniversary Fender America Telecaster at a very decent price. Within minutes I knew I found THE Tele for me.

As great as it was stock it still needed some mods. I planned my attack happened to have a set of Fender SCN Tele pickups around so I dropped those in for the time being just to avoid the dreaded 60 cycle hum. Those pickups are pretty hot and not what I wanted but it was ok cause in less than a month all the mods were complete.

Mods list

1. Fender Locking Tuners
2. Graphtech Nut/Saddles
3. Custom 2 hole Control Plate
4. 3 Way Toggle with a small housing cause it’s a bit of a tight fit in that spot I chose.
5. Bourns Low Friction 250k Pot
6. Emerson Treble Bleed Cap/Resistor.
7. Dimarzio Area T Neck and Bridge pickups.
8. Electro-Socket jack
9. Steel Wool/tung oil. The neck had a heavy clear gloss and I’m all about a silky smooth satin feel.
10. Mint green pickguard
11. “Push back” Vintage style cloth wire for the toggle and jack
12. The frets has some mild wear so after a little filing and polishing they are now superb.
13. Schaller Strap Locks.
14. Strung up with NYXL 10s.

I’m very happy with the results. It plays fantastic and sounds amazing. As far as the electronics go I looked around for pickups for a while and the Dimarzio areas seem to have the best noiseless tones. I really can’t stand 60 cycle hum. It drives me insane. I also hate the side ways switch teles have and I don’t use a tone control ever. So the 3 way LP style toggle and 1 volume was all I needed for controls.

Now onto the pics!

How do you like the Area T set as far as versatility and "twang" ability? I ordered a pair for a Warmoth project, but won't be able to install them for another few days

I do like them. They have a fair amount of twang to them. They are sensitive to height adjustments more so than the Fender scns were. I have them slightly lower for less output.

Here’s. Quick Music Memos of me going through all 3 toggle settings rhythm clean lead clean then dirty. About 5-10 seconds of each setting thru my Fender Bassbreaker and Greer Lightspeed and SD 805 for gain. Nothing spectacular about the recording but you get the idea.

I really dig the custom control plate. It's such a simple touch that really makes it different. :yesway:

Thanks. I’m really happy with it and the way it turned out. I originally was going to find a blank control plate and route the holes myself but a company called www.rockrabbitguitars.com makes plates with holes right where I wanted them so I just bought it from them instead.
