Ibanez RGA Prestige NGD: 2 is better than 1

As I'm sure a few of you know, I used to be the resident RGA whore around these parts. However, the black RGA321f has eluded me for over 10 years at this point. My blue one is my primary live guitar and my band is getting back together but playing in two tunings now so I needed an excuse to buy a 2nd guitar. This guy was sitting in a GC used section for $899 and I couldn't resist.

In my opinion this is the best prestige Ibanez has ever made and I dearly wish they would bring them back. I own a JBM100 and it's incredible but something about these hardtail RGA's is just magic. I'll be putting a BKP in the bridge, just not sure which one yet. The blue guy has a jug in it but might go nailbomb in this one, we shall see.

Happy NGD! Not usually a fan of blue guitars (speaking of your old one) but that's an interesting blend of purple and blue. And it's always nice to own two of the same guitar.

Reminds me that I found a RGA121 from some local classifieds yesterday for a reasonable price but I'm more into looking to get a new 7-string so there's that.

YES! More RGA love is always a good thing. I have a violin-finish 121 that’s been my fave guitar since 2017.

HNGD! Also regarding BKPs, I put a Ragnarok in mine for shits and giggles since there was a used for sale at a stupidly low price in my area and tbh I love it WAY more than I thought it would.

Very focused and thick sounding without sounding dark despite some cut highs. Doesn’t sound like a djent pickup at all in the RGA, so maybe you can consider that if you want something aggressive

Yep! I got one when they first came out right around 10 years ago. I don't play it a ton these days, but it's a killer guitar.

HNGD! How are the 321s compared to the 121s? I love the blue finish on the 321 but they tend to go for a solid ~30% more than the 121s, and for how good the VLF finish looks, I have a tough time opting for the 321.

Sweet! I definitely recommend the nailbomb. I had a c-bomb/cold sweat set in a 121 for some time and it was filthy in the best way possible.

They're the same guitar minus the top wood and finish. Personally I think the 321s look way better and warrant the extra money. To be fair though, the 321s on the used market seem to be in much better condition over most 121s I've seen. Also the 321s price fluctuate quite a bit. Except the black ones... those are super rare sadly.

Ibanez needs to reissue this model! Revive the series and keep in MIJ, 26.5 scale, good aftermarket pickups
