Obviously i know one is louder but i jam mostly in my bedroom. Havent played out in awhile but i might again soon. Ive heard the 50w version of heads dont have as much natural low end but is there any other downside? This is the only time for awhile i can spend this kind of money on gear so i want to make the right decision

I have the 100W, but only play it through an attenuator. I've never played the 50W, so not sure what the real difference in tone would be.

If you have the cash to spend, I'd just go 100W. It can be switched to 1/2 power (50W) using a toggle on the back of the amp, too.

I'd go with the 50 watter personally, especially since you'll be playing in your bedroom more often than not. 50 watts is already loud as .... for any live gig, and switching it down to 25 watts at home would be much easier to keep under control even if you wanted to do some late night playing.

My Mesa can do 10, 25, and 35 watts. 10 is plenty loud in my bed room, and even 35 watts is plenty loud when I'm jamming with my drummer. I'm all about the lower wattage amps that I can crank though! I imagine if you went 100w you might find its a bit overkill in a bedroom

Yea its definetly overkill, i have just been thinking about the longevity of future uses for the amp itself. Im also worried the 50w wont sound the same or lack in some ways. I dont know, im still torn

Get the 100w.

It has a master volume, so it should do bedroom tones decently, and you'll have all 100w there in case you need it.

Also, you'll have more headroom for clean tones at higher volume with the 100.

The Archon has a fantastic master volume so you won't have issues playing at bedroom volumes. I had the 100w and preferred the tone at the 100w setting in all situations including bedroom practice. As has been mentioned, it's more about headroom than volume.

One will sound a little different.

I always opt for the most wattage possible, just a personal thing.

I have a 50 watt combo and in 25 watt mode run into my 4x12 it gets loud very quickly.

I don't see any real reason to have a 100 watt head for bed room jamming and 50 watts was loud enough for my band setting.

I prefer 50-watt amps. They aren't as tight in the low-end, true. But they have a certain bounce that makes them easy/fun to play and generally have sweeter top-end harmonics, with a meaner, more pissed off mid-range. The differences are subtle, though.

Volume-wise, it makes no difference if it's 50 or 100 watts. It depends on how well its master volume works to take it down to home use levels.

I have the 100, demoed both.

Volumes are similar and the 100 have the toogle to turn to 50 and sounds better to my ear

Your going to feel like your missing out on something with the 50. Give yourself piece of mind and get the 100.
