Kind advice on 1st 8-string guitar needed.

If you have the time could you tell me what is the difference between EMGs and DiMarzio D activators? I have seen a couple of vids on it but would welcome your opinion. Thank you !

Emgs are active dactivators are passive. The emgs have a more compressed sound a lot of people don't like them but you can get good tones out of them, especially if you screw them right down in to the body away from the strings.

The dimarzios are more pleasing to the majority of people. More headroom, more dynamic, they respond better to your playing style.

I dont mind either I have had both emgs and dimarzio and know how to work both. It's personal preference.

My first was an Ibanez RG8 but I then decided toget the Rg2228. I think its good to start with a cheaper one to make sure 8 strings are right for you personally
