Man, I use to talk with Nick years ago on here when he was saying he was going to open a "real" shop. Well I tapped out of Metal back then and now I'm back and I went in to the Axe Palace for the first time today. Holy Crap. I think they're still there mopping up my drool. Ima tell you whut.

I'm not going back there unless I got 10g's in my pocket. Going in there and seeing the guitars they have, makes me realize how sub par the cheap sub 1k guitars I have are. I still like them and have fun with them though. And the amps. So many awesome amps, I started shaking looking at them. I WANT ALL OF THEM.

Anyhow, Nick is a super cool dood, met his dad and his tech. All super nice guys and that's the reason they're doing good. Customer service, great attitudes. Going in there made me realize what a different experience it is going to a place like that vs. Guitar Center. Got some el34's as well to try out in my MKV.

I wish I could have spent a little more time in there checking out the stuff and I wanted to try out the Orange DD 50 or 100 too, but forgot in the midst of losing my mind with that "Ima leave here with a new axe high."

The guitar. I'm impressed. Nick said it was nice, no issues and he was right. Almost. I had to fill a small section of binding where it meets the wood. There was a tad of wood missing. But trust me. Nobody but me would ever notice this. I'm insane. Little bit of wood filler and it's perfect. I want over this thing like a drill sergeant inspecting someones bunk and foot locker. Nothing. Thing is mint. It's been a while since I had an IBZ. I had the 7 and 6 string Xiphos. The 7 was awesome, the 6 was a POFS. This thing is great.

The neck is kind of weird to me. I'm use to necks with "stuff" on them. Whether it be paint or oil or something. I can't tell if it's bare wood or satin finish. I feel like ripping it off the doing it with tru oil or tung oil.

Anyhow, here's some crap pics.

Hngd, that xiphos is really a thing of beauty. The flat black everywhere makes it really look like a metal machine.

I love that! Would be even better as a neck thru I think but thats not too ibanezy is it? You can play any kind of metal with that thing dude. Enjoy it!

How does she play/sound?

^ I think that's why he was saying that. I see this isn't in the European catalog so we'll probably have to sells in order to get it over here.

The guitar looks aesthetically really well done and it seems the OP got a nice guitar as there has been a lot of not so positive talk about Iron Labels. Congrats as it looks killer!

My only other comment towards Ibanez is that they still haven't fixed the strap buttons placement after all the people complaining with the previous Xiphos models. Unless this balances well which is something the OP can tells us

That is freakin killer. I'm not a fan of matte finishes usually but it totally works with that axe!

Thanks fellas. Haven't even played it much. F'n pipe burst in my studio the other day. Had to move all my sh|t out, fix the leak, put vents in the ceiling, patch, plaster, paint, mop for 18 hours.

Yeah I don't know about the finish. It feels like it's fragile. But the fit and finish on it is about a 7-8 out of 10.

It plays pretty good after setting it up to my liking, which is with the block for the up dive. Takes me about 4 hours to get the God damn floyd right. Hate
those f'n tremolos. Most of it is I don't know what I'm doing, so it takes me hours.

I always have the same damn problem with all the guitars. I stretch the strings to no end without the nut locks tight. Then I tune, tighten, stretch, tune with the fine tuners. Dive bomb and all the f'n notes go sharp. I wonder if it's my little device in there that's causing that. It's a tad better now, maybe it's just because I put new strings on it and they take a couple days to set in.

Plus I have perfect pitch and I think these things never stay in perfect tune.

I had both neck throughs when they first came out. The 7 was nice, but the 6 was a POFS. I wish I still had the 7. I think I had deactivators in it, or something like that. Swapped out whatever came stock.

Would not order again. He sent an amp, at discount, unharmed and 100% working order. He's also too helpful.

Anyways, HNGD.

EDIT: Wait, whoops. I meant "WOULD order again." -not.

try putting chapstick on the knife edges/trem posts for better tuning stability, that trick basically saved my lo-trs... lasts a long time too.

I've been meaning to check that place out. After reading what you have to say about it I'm going to have to do that real soon since it's only about 20 minutes from me.

I finally got around to stopping by there today. Will definitely be going back to have some work done on one of my guitars, get a new bridge pickup for my RG3EX1, and to buy a new guitar since I have some extra money coming in in the near future. Ended up spending probably an hour there talking to Nick and the two other guys, I think one was Sam and I forget the other guys name(I'm horrible with names). I wanted a single string to try something different for the 6th on my drop C guitar and he just gave it to me. I gotta say, I'm loving this 56 as opposed to the 52 that was on there before. Feels SO much better.

Definitely a great store. Regardless of the product, I've always been a fan of supporting local business as opposed to chains anyways.
