It needs some black pickup rings, but it'll do for now.

I know someone from the PRS police is probably thinking "that's not really a private stock, it's an employee guitar," and to that I say I don't really give a shit ...cause ...well look at it.

The Aquaviolet top color is pretty hard to capture. It's a little easier to see in the neck (specifically the head stock shot) but there's a decent amount of purple mixed with the light blue. I'll try to get an indoor pic that shows it better.

Man...PRS really is a cut above the rest when it comes to wood selection and stain quality. Damn.

Do you mind if I ask how you came by the guitar? Asking because I wonder if Katie spec'd it like this for the best resale value. I've seen a bunch of employee guitars, but usually they aren't this elaborate. Perhaps there's some element of seniority that factors into the quality of the materials you can select from, but that's just a guess. As you say, this is definitely Private Stock quality...so, someone took a shining to Katie at least

Anyway, congrats! Could get lost in that top!

You're right, the reason that this is essentially a Private Stock is because she has been with PRS for over 25 years and this was her 25th anniversary employee guitar.

Very, very nice, Katie. Do you like the pickups in there? How do they work with what I have to assume are more metal-based sounds (being as we're here, at SSO)?

The 85/15's are pretty good. I've only played it for a few hours so I might want to change them out eventually, but first impression is they're fine.

Heard on the black pickup rings. Would definitely look better.
But JEEEEEEESUS man, that top looks like the fuckin' ocean. I LOVE the slanted quilt, looks absolutely incredible.

Someone name a shop that puts out stuff that's as consistently incredible as PRS. I'll wait.

dont think its the case. This gutiar its a 30th aniversary model, as seen on the trusrod cover. Those came up pretty much spec like that (not sure about the neck stain as I cant find a pic of one. So maybe she only choosed the color and a upgraded unique top. Nothing really special about this model. They do that neck stain job pretty frequently. She jsut happened to reach her "employee guitar" moment at same time of the 30th anniversary, which was in 2015.

If she wanted to get it to re-sale it, she would ahve sold it back them..... (or maybe she did and it just got sold back again?).... Not sure hows the policies for employees on these guitars in when/if they can sell then

Either way, great score, thank Katie. And yeah, black rings would look dope!
