So my birthday was on Monday (Dec 22, yay for late birthdays !), and my parents went above and beyond and got me something I've always wanted.

A Jim Root Tele.

I've been gassing over this guitar for years, and I finally have one. It may be a Squier, but goddamn, this thing is a tank. Review after pics / sound clips.
Also a thousand pardons for the iPotato pictures. The weather has SUCKED the last few days

First time outta the case

Annnnnnnd review time:

Finish 10/10

Pros: It's white. I love white guitars. But for real, feels really nice, no deformations from the factory, no spots missed

Cons: Gets dirty real fast. But it's white, so I have to expect it.

Fretboard 8/10

Pros: Frets are nice and level, none popping out, seated nicely, no sharp edges. Also contoured heel. ....ing godsend.

Cons: Fretboard was dry as eff. Was a floor model, so I can't expect it to be well maintained. Rosewood could be a bit darker, but I may dye it black anyways so it's not a bother

Pickups/Tone 10/10

Pros: Bridge has plenty of bite, neck is nice and creamy.

Cons: Middle position sucks, but I never use it anyways, on anything ever. Gonna replace pups with EMG's at some point anyhow.

For being a Chinese Squier this guitar kicks major ass. Plays better than any other guitar I own, or have owned for that matter. Plays better than most Fenders I've ever played.

This one actually came from the factory in better shape than my Mexi Strat did. 100% my new go to axe. This is an absolutely beautiful instrument, and it sounds as mean as it looks.

Overall: 9/10

Also I'm told that this style of finish wears in a lot quicker than a gloss finish, is there any truth to this? If so, I'm even more stoked, I love worn in teles.

Thanks for viewing all, happy holidays!!

Jim actually wanted the finish to wear quickly/wear at all because he also likes to have a worn in guitar.

I thought I remember hearing that in an interview or reading it somewhere, but I wasn't sure. But this is great news!
