<span style="color:eek:range;font-weight:bold;"> Name/age/location: </span>

My name is Josh Foster, i'm 25 years old and i live in Alameda, Ca. (a.k.a. "The Bay Area").

<span style="color:eek:range;font-weight:bold;">Who are your biggest musical influences?</span>

For my personal "Idoler" stuff, any form of well written metal, especially if it's "djenty," haha! I have to also give a big shout out to all the talented dudes on this forum, and those that have always been uber nice, supportive and helpful to me...you all know who you are, and you are huge influences on me whether you know it or not!

This track is actually part of a project i'm producing and co-writing with my bassist (Jerrod) called "Entertaining the End." We have been wanting to do this project for a while now and finally found some time to do it. Jerrod and I, and this particular project, are very influenced by the sounds and styles of bands like Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, Pig Destroyer, "old" BTBAM etc. We wanted to make the riffs dark and groovy, while still having "thrashy" and technical elements that would be easy for the listener to follow.

Overall, we just wanted to do a fun project that the everyday metal head, and even the well rounded musician can enjoy and appreciate!

<span style="color:eek:range;font-weight:bold;"> For those who haven't yet heard your song, describe "At Your Se7en" in seven words or less:</span>

Heavy, dark, groovy, technical, djenty, brutal, and metal!

<span style="color:eek:range;font-weight:bold;">What was the writing process like for "At Your Se7en"?</span>

Jerrod brought most of the awesome riffs to the table for this track! I polished a few of them, helped organize them, messed with some of the time signatures, wrote some complimenting parts, and then mapped out all the drums.

For my actual recording process:
i like to find a project tempo first, and then i'll start tracking the riffs one by one to the click. I then listen to them to see what needs trimming, adding, cutting, repeating etc., this helps me to get a rough layout for the entire song. Next comes drums, and when i program the drum parts it usually helps me to better organize the riffs even further. I usually track bass next, and then leads...or visa versa.

<span style="color:eek:range;font-weight:bold;">Did the song turn out as you'd envisioned it?</span>

We felt that with Jerrod's original vision for the song, and then my twisted vision of his original vision, and then collaborating both our visions...it came out much better than we both could have imagined. Jerrod and i did this exact same sort of thing when writing for our old band "House of Atreus."

<span style="color:eek:range;font-weight:bold;">What gear was used for the recording of "At Your Se7en"?</span>

Recording gear:
POD X3 > SansAmp Bass Driver (for bass) > Presonus FP10 > Toshiba Satellite Sli6

Recording software:
Steinberg's Nuendo 3, DFHS

Music Gear:
i recorded the guitars with Jerrod's Schecter C-7 Hellraiser (stock EMGs), and then Jerrod recorded the Bass parts with his Warwick Thumb neck-thru 5 string.

<span style="color:eek:range;font-weight:bold;">Where should people go if they want to contact you or hear more of your music?</span>
