hello, i've recently been using my 7 string again and wish to tune it to drop c with a high g, I have a 26.5" scale length and I was wondering what would be a good string guage for the high g.

A .007 would be your best bet. D'addario sells them as singles through several online retailers on their site.

I think that an .008 would be a bit stronger and better sounding. It would only be a teeny bit more tense than Ab4 at 24.75". I also recommend trying tuning it to F4 instead of G4. You could even use a .009 for that. This gives you a minor third above the D4 and an octave above the F3, so a lot of interesting chording possibilities exist here.
