Well , I had a very hard time deciding whether to post this video I randomly found in the off-topic or the general modifications subforum.

On a serious note,it's not out of the question that stabilizing the springs may benefit a bit the guitar's tone.For sure not done in such a ghetto way..
As for changing the thread of the screws..It sounds a bit of an overkill to me,as long as the wood is maple and not poop wood that just looks like maple (I've heard stories... ) .
