They seem cheap, like under $1k new. This day and age that's cheap to me. Are these guitars good or trash? Would it be better than let's say a used KM7 mkii?

I haven’t played one but the general consensus is that they are one of the few options out there that really give amazing value in our current market.
That said, while most of the reviews I’ve seen have been very positive I do remember seeing the odd one where someone had an issue with it. I can’t remember but it might have been a neck pocket gap issue. Otherwise they seem like tremendously good value in today’s market, assuming you don’t get a lemon.
Will it be better than a used KM7 MKII? Well, aside from the differences in specs, odds are the KM7 is going to be the better built instrument—but while that’s a general rule, there are always exceptions.
