oh my days, I've been thinking about this very thing (as in modding RG1527 into piezo) but I didn't know it was even possible! any guides/mods/parts recommendations you can share?
Here, follow this thread - https://www.sevenstring.org/threads/new-just-buy-a-used-prestige-day-ibanez-rg1527rb.352121/

Pic are off line because they were hosted in a website that no longer exists... so... if you need anything else, just ask, probably better through PM so not to high-jack the thread?

... and you can find the full mod formula in this thread's post: https://www.sevenstring.org/threads...stige-day-ibanez-rg1527rb.352121/post-5475017

Be advised that the 7th string piezo sound may come out dull. If so, test the string in other saddles to find if there's one with better response. It took me a while to solve this problem.

A couple I had and modded long ago. Wish I had better pics of them. RG7420 with a Duncan Custom 7 and an Apex II with the OG Duncan Blackouts.

Some expert moders here. Congrats.
Delighted to see your creativity on your axes.
Side effects on me : want now an Artic white RG7 or RGD and a vintage violin one.

I love your 7420, that looks so good! And that Agile is gnarly, I had no idea they made a 7 string V like that.
I regret getting rid of all three of them. The V is from when Rondo had the custom shop open. I don't think they even make the Hornet V anymore. I traded someone on here an axe for it and it ended up being my #1 for years. That apex was a sleeper for sure though, the recessed TOM is probably the most comfy bridge I've ever used. Wish it was a more widely available feature.

I'm pulling for ya that the stars align and you can them down! I regret not buying an Apex II when they were reasonably priced just a few years ago.

Did you/someone else put binding on that 7420? It looks great and reminds me of Dino's old RG's from back in the day.

I regret getting rid of my two RG7620BKs. And my RG220BGN. And my RGT42FMDR. And my RGT42BP. And my RG5EX1. And my RGR1570SDB. And My RG2550ZGK. And my RG7421BK. I didn't really gel with the RG2228GK though so I don't miss it. I liked the 27" scale if it would have been a 7 but that's just too short for a low F# and the 28" and up is just too long for the higher strings. Plus the 808s were ass. I want a RG1077XL so bad. I'm just happy I snagged my 2000 RG570EXCPK when I got the chance. That was one of my all time dream guitars. If I would have known that the world of guitars going to turn into a laughably expensive world of lower quality guitars slathered in gaudy and grotesque colors and veneers, I would have held onto so many great guitars that passed through my hands. Little did I know I was living through the golden age of Ibanez and Esp and I took it for granted that the used RG7620s would always be there for 600 bucks and the RG1527RB would be a permanent model until the end of time or that there would be at least two Japanese made RGs in any year lineup that were to die for and plenty of other good and decent options.

This downward spiral all started when those fucking internet djent guys got popular so I blame them.

@Yul Brynner if we could only know the future...

Nevertheless, am I authorized in posting a UV in this thread? It's basically an RG, so... here's mine:

The mods are basically around the wiring, SS frets and plastic covers (pickguard included). The pickups are still original, although the neck one is rotated 180º because or coil polarity order for my... tastes and function needs and, therefore, sounds.

In these 2 first photos, it looks like the mod is only at the switches and stuff..

... but when one takes a closer look into it...

... one finds some extra things

This guitar was bought used, it's from 2000 and was bought in 2020 or 2021 already with those finish dents, but she's clean at the front. Plays like butter and now delivers 73 different pickup combinations, against its original 5. It's a great player!

... and the next guitar will be the fretless, which is yet to be properly shot, but has a great amount of crazy mods...

I'd say it counts because if it weren't for the Vai 7's we likely wouldn't have this thread!

This guy's been my main squeeze since last year, small dot 1527, blaze set, rewired for H-S-H. Pretty much a more modern universe thingie.
I am looking into changing the trem as it has been through the ringer, does anyone know any replacement? I'm also thinking about having an ash body built for it dyed with a simple black stain with a black aluminum pickguard.
