What speaker should I pair with a Celestion H30 Anniversary in a 212?

I've got an H30 in a box I should probably use at some point. I'm unsure what I should pair it with, such as another H30 Anniversary, a Vintage 30, a Creamback of some sort, a G12-65, or something else.

I use two Synergy Syn-2 units with OS and IICP modules into a Fryette PS-2A Power Station. I play 70s and 80s hard rock and metal in E and Eb (or drop D variations).

I use a G12H30 with a V30 and I think it goes together well. The V30 is a bit sharper in the high-mids. The G12H30 is a little rounder sounding. I mic each one and blend them when I record.
The Vintage 30 is one I tend to skip, but maybe I should give it a try. Should I try a standard MIC Vintage 30 or a Mesa MIE version?

You could line up 4 of each and have 4 different sounds. Grab one available for a good price and go imo.

Wondering how the wattage difference works in a 212 or 412, ex wouldnt the v30 be more prominent?

Based on efficiency, not wattage. I think both are nearly equal (99-100db).

What about a Redback? I have been curious about those.

The H30 is bright, so maybe the darker Redback would pair well.

It's been a long time since I've played through a G12H-30, but my favorite speaker combo right now is the Eminence Governor and Wizard, which are their takes on the Vintage 30 and G12H-30 🤷‍♂️

That is pretty fascinating if true. The wizard is one of my least favorite speakers and the G12H-30 anniversary is one of my favorites. That’s not a commentary on your preference or facts, it’s just interesting to me.

I like the G12H30 and V30, but never played them together in the same cab. I agree that they'd likely work well together.

TBH, I thought it would only sound good with one of my amps and now it's the default speaker setup I use for everything. That combo sounds aggressive AF

Call me weird, but I always thought cabs sounded best when running all the same speaker.

The H30 is kind of similar to the H75 Creamback, so it makes sense that it would pair well with a V30. I think Greenback would sound cool as well instead of a V30.

G1265 and v30 are a great combo.

I really like 2 '65s in my 2x12.

Greenbacks go well with h30s too.

These 2 speakers pretty much own 70s hard rock.

TIL G12H-30 is gold not green :yesway:

Picking up a G12H-30 something tomorrow, not sure if they are anniversary or something else. Dont really care

Worth noting the G12M-25 is 98dB 75hz-5k whereas the G12H-30 is 100dB and 85hz-5k.

Which unfortunately means I may still want to find a G12M-25 cab :ugh:

The Anniversary is a gold label. The Heritage (55hz and 75hz) is a "greenback."
