I have an Agile Interceptor Pro 730 which is a 30'' scale so its a pain finding strings that fit correctly. I really like Ernie Ball but they don't last long for me, also DR are my favorite string so far. I am thinking about switching to La Bella strings though. What would be a good custom set of La Bella strings for drop G for my big 30'' 7 string Agile?

I use a 62 and a Jazz/Rock set (.11-.49) (all D'addario) on a 26.5" scale and it seems nice. It'd probably be a little too tight for a 30" scale, though.

I appreciate you guys helping me out with this. I am very new to the 7 string thing. So I think I'm going to go with some 11's but what gauge should I use for the 7th string?

I don't know if you have other guitars you can use the extra string on but I use the D'Addario .10-.74 8 string set and use the 10-64 for my 27" scale guitar in drop G then use the .74 for my low G with an 11-54 set on my 25.5" ibanez 7.

I like the tension a lot with that set up but I don't know if the .64 would be too big for a 30"?

I use a D'addario .70 for a 27" scale tuned between G & G#. Something bigger would have better tension, but anything above a .70 sounds like buttmud, and is overpowering when playing chords.

Juststrings.com has good options if you ever need a custom set whenever you find what you need.

Last year I used a set consisting of 10-70 and it worked out fine

I'm not sure about the 30" scale but on standard 25.5" I have tried ernie ball, DR, diaddario and now I've got an elixir heavy set with a .68 on top and I find it pretty comfortable, could be a little tighter if you play really heavily but its good for me, so I don't imagine you would need a huge set for the 30" scale, although the guys in northlane both use 27" with a .72 on top so I guess it comes down a lot to taste and how hard you play, but I don't imagine anything bigger than a 68 would be all the comfortable on 30"

Circle K Strings!
.009 .013 .017 .025 .033 .043 .065
find the .009-.043 here Circle K Strings - 6 String Guitar Sets
and the .065 single here Circle K Strings - Single Strings - All tensions, scales, gauges

This will lie between the comfortable tensions of your typical 9's and 10's on a 25.5" inch guitar in standard tuning.

I'm not sure I would use 11's on a 30" scale though, to be honest... It's all personal preference though, dependent upon how much tension you like on your strings and how rough you are with your pick attack. When I had my 27" Interceptor, I kept it tuned to drop G# and used a .070 for the G#, so rockskate4x's suggestion of a .65 for a 30" would probably be ideal, generally speaking.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the suggestions for 11's... too effin' thick IMO. This tuning and scale has the same tension as tuning your strat UP a half step from standard. I could do that with 9's. There is no way in heck that i would do that with 11's

I should clarify that the gauges I selected are only a starting point. Personally I would choose even smaller gauges then these, but then it gets much more difficult to find the proper strings. At least in my case. I'm a circle k fanboi  and .025 is the smallest wound D3 (C3 in your case) that they have in a set on the website. They also do not have half gauges (.0085, .0095, .0105,. etc.). So if I rule out my fanboism for a moment the best course of action could be an 8.5-39 set and single 60 from d'addario for a 9's feel, or alternatively use a 9.5-44 set with 66 from d'addario for a 10's feel.

I hope that this is not an overwhelming amount of information! Have fun experimenting!
