I'm looking for music that is polyrhythmic and isn't metal, but would be played on "native" (for lack of a better word) instruments. It's kind of a vague question, but does anyone know any groups that fit that criteria? I wanna get my cultural 5 over 4 going on :p :hbang:

80's King Crimson is really influneced by some type of world music called "Gamelan" I dont know much about it, but King Crimson kicks ass, so who cares? :p

Shawn Lane's work with Jonas Hellborg and Al Di Meola's later stuff are also a pretty good place to start if you want sort of guitar driven kinda stuff with elements of world music :)

+1 on the King Crimson - that band is and forever will be genius :)

A Balinese Gamelan orchestra I played in for many years.

Lots of polyrhythms in this piece:
