You know that you've fucked up your computer when Microsoft Word won't even open.

Last week I tried opening a document that I needed for English off of the school's website. Well for some reason Word wouldn't open properly and has to be run in safe mode since then.

And for some reason, in safe mode it crashes if you try to open documents.

And I have a shitload of work due tomorow...

Anyone know what could have caused this? Or if there is a way to remedy this besides re-installing Word.

this mite sound odd but just trying doing things a different way like opening from a different screen to normal, call it superstition but works for me because my comp sometimes spacs up about certain things.

That actually makes perfect sense to me. It's a common mistake to expect computers to act rationally. If you treat them like small African deities and trouble-shoot as such, things tend to go a lot better.

Four seperate spyware scanners claim I don't have anything...but you know how that is.

Also, I'm not quite sure what to do with the information Hijack this provides you once you are done scanning.

Very true. I had to wipe my friends hard drive and reinstall everything on the machine I built for him a few months ago. Literally nothing would run on it, not even IE or his antivirus. Totally fucked. Took a couple of hours for him to admit he spent most of his spare time surfing for porn, which I knew already.

I'll probably set my comp up to dual boot Linux and Windows again now that summer is rolling around and I'll have time to do it.

I also figured out that I can execute all of the shutdown options if I am at the user login screen. It still takes about 10 minutes before it shuts down though.
