I never have tried the regular Decimator, but I have nothing but good things to say about the G string, I use it with my 5150 and it gets rid of that "hum/buzz" noise that it always had even with my guitar's volume all the way down. The difference it makes in your tone is EXTREMELY minute, its not even worth mentioning, you can't tell the difference really. I reccomend it completely, you'll be satisfied
