Crazy seeing this. I thought the black one had a six figure offer years ago, so interesting to see what happens to this.

Pretty disappointed to see this being sold like this and not put in a museum or something. I even suggested to whoever is selling it to maybe send it to Morrisound since as of recently they're being honored as a historic landmark in Florida.

A lot of people are flaming the guy in the comments saying that this person has been selling off Chuck's stuff for almost 20 years because of "falling on hard times". I completely get that times are tough, but as someone else said, at what point does this party stop asking for help and start getting stuff together on their own. I obviously don't know these people or their situation, but it sucks to see this thing just auctioned off to end up sitting in a case in someone's home never to be heard from again.

There were even a handful of people who even offered to pitch in for a GoFundMe to keep the guitar from being sold, but that was completely ignored.

All in all, a really sad situation to see. I can't think of many other guitar players in the genre of heavy music that are as important as Chuck was and it feels like his legacy is being neglected in a way.

People shit all the time on Kirk Hammett being an undeserving owner to Greeny, but that guitar is probably getting more action now that it ever did.

Maybe we'll see this one posted on FB groups by that guy that lives in a castle (literally). He sure has a thing for weirdo pointy guitars.

If you want it in a museum, buy it and donate it to a museum.

I get what you're saying, but unfortunately not everyone is going to be that gracious after spending a ridiculous sum of money on an instrument, and understandably so. It's essentially throwing your money away. It just sucks to see famous musicians instruments go this route, at least to me. A lot of the time this happens and they just disappear into obscurity.

Chris and his family have been through a series of family tragedies and personal illness that's only gotten worse over the last decade or so.

Chris himself is a disabled amputee.

Chuck died almost 25 years ago, and his nephew has been responsible for everything for at least the past 15 years. He's gone from being vehemently against selling a lot of this stuff to needing to for medical bills and taking care of his family as they age.

If folks want it in a museum, they're free to buy it and donate it.

Plenty of folks lend out instruments like this to museums, often for free or for near it. This isn't anything new.

I see it's at 20k US, £15-16! Probably will go for more by the end of the auction. Hopefully Chuck's family manages to make a dent at their debts with the amount of money they get. Whoever gets it, hopefully makes good use of it and not just flip it.
Please don't be those Essex Recording Studio guys, I despise them with a passion. Or the Vitriol guy as Knightbroler will flip his lid lol!

Now I need to know who this Chris guy is and learn all about this Chuck drama. I must've been living under a rock.

This seems like the kind of listing that should really have some kind of authentication. That shouldn't be too hard for the owner to get from B.C. Rich. Seems sketch to me. Someone please bring in the Pawnstars experts.

This is being sold by Chris Steele, Chuck's nephew. He's been involved with this stuff, the managing of Chuck's estate for years. He's a known quantity.

BCR on the other hand, I don't think anyone working there now was even around when this was made.

You're right. I didn't realize all of this stuff was going on. Hopefully it finds a good home.

Same. I remember a little of it around the start of the Death To All stuff but I think that was when Eric Greif was still alive and running things. Even then, I don't think the dude was up to anything malicious, but I do think it's good to view these type of things with a little bit of skepticism from time to time as it's not unheard of for someone to do these things out of greed.

That's probably right about BCR.

I just think buying something like this without any kind of authenticating documentation is a risky purchase. The further we get away from the 90s, the harder it's provenance will get to prove. But whatever, I'm not the one bidding $20k for it.

Chris usually provides documentation/photos and COA with this kind of stuff, and it's advertised as such.

So, what exactly are the diehard fans upset about with the auction?

Is it the fact that they themselves will never own the instrument? Or that the instrument will be shuttered behind bulletproof glass in someone’s castle, never to be seen again from 2024 onwards? Or are they upset that a guy who fortunately happened to be born into being the nephew of an influential musician decided to stop working a day job and instead opted to just cash-in on the name of said influential musician by selling off items that formerly belonged to the now-deceased musician?

Someone fill me in on the actual details here.

It's the "he doesn't love you the way I would love you" of the celebrity owned metal guitar gear genre.
