Damn dude, this is really awesome. I had a similar idea rolling around my head for the past year, a 7 not 8 and a nylon string, so I'm super interested to see how this works out for you. I'll definitely be following this thread.
I think Holloway had the right idea. Black is kind of a funny thing because its the combination of all colors, it can sometimes give off a hue of one color or another in certain lights, angles, etc. Its probably as simple as the black stain sanded back and a custom mix of white tint into the...
This has been a topic on my mind for some time now. After some research, it seems like you can get good results at home based on the right mixture of time and temperature, as previously stated.

Pine tends to be blotchy, so if you're intent on staining the cab as is, use a pre-stain conditioner. You could also cover it in some veneer, that way the grain is nicer to look at. I would say, if you plan to gig or even just move it frequently, just use tolex.

The Roadster was supposed to be the "little brother" to the Road King but idk if it has the same pre. I owned the Roadster and it was a great amp, but I regretted getting rid of my regular Dual Rec for the Roadster. I think in the end it just depends on if you feel you need all the options on...
As far as I can tell, as long as the wood you buy is planed, you should have everything you need. If not, you'll need to find a way to plane the wood to square it up. The straight edge is an absolute must, but the other luthier tools not so much. You can do the same job with other tools that are...
