lol I get what you mean, just saw an opportunity to go on an inlay rant. I apologize if I sounded like I was somehow targeting your comment, I just like to whine about inlay options...
I'm not the biggest "metal shape" guy but that's one of the coolest instruments I've seen in a minute.
I personally love the inlays, mostly because I think that while offset dot patterns are usually fine I find shark tooth, plain block and centerline dots (which make up 95% of inlays) are dull...
Before I say anything else, I want to address the "tuner hole drilling" idea with a replacement tuner option (a lot more costly in the short term but not over a few years and I love them). Tone Ninja has 8 string locking tuner sets starting at $65 (for chrome inline sets) that can fit up to .086...
That was actually a great listen. I love good folk and that scratched the itch for the evening. Also, not sure why but nice singing voices aren't exactly what I expect from people on a gear page lmao but that was fantastic! Subscribed to the channel on 2 accounts and I hope I see more
While I certainly lean towards modern gear and music, I hold a belief that no one can deny the 80s rockstar deal as a whole is awesome. I might sleep below an 8 string Strandberg on the wall, but right next to that is an old Vernon Reid poster.
I was out of town the other day and decided hey...
That's pretty slick... I dig the combined pickguard especially since I am a sucker for pearloid patterns and it looks classy with the white/ivory scheme. This was also a good reminder to check if stringjoy has black 145s yet... Anyway I figured I may as well post mine too, since although the...
Haven't found a demo that's as dirty as I'd like to hear the difference in, honestly... But I think my ears might be just as bad since I generally don't hear the differences others do as often, as well. I suppose that regardless of all of that, they're the same pickups with slightly different...
Honestly, those Big J-Blades in warm & wooly seem like what I was looking for, and at less than most other sets I've seen too. I'll probably get them anyway, but just wondering if you have experienced the difference between the warm & wooly, and clean & clear sets? I am thinking warm and wooly...
Last year I got a 2001 standard jazz bass v. This is my favorite playing bass I have ever held and after ~13 months, I have realized that even in making some pretty heavy stuff I prefer playing the jazz bass by a mile to my Jackson (24 frets, 35", soapbars with active/passive/both coils/single...
Just saw this, then found that series on Sweetwater, Pretty slick looking.

Dig the 8 string, pretty decent 25.5-27.5" scale (though i have to prefer the slightly less fanned but longer on the 8th Strandberg lengths to anything else), with...
Also curious to hear about the access. A good production 8 string, especially a multiscale, that isn't like every other superstrat is always good to see lol
Got the one of the gold RESQ:D 8 string models. I've wanted a Strandberg for a while, almost since I started playing, but never had the funds for it (so I missed the pink drop-I would have loved it as well lol). Super cool guitar, never played anything more comfortable or owned anything that...
For most non-heavy genres I use my neck pickup for rhythm the most, and for heavier applications I use my neck pickup in combination with my middle or bridge pickup if it has a vintage-leaning voice as I find it keeps a similar tone but with enough treble to provide for greater clarity. I think...
I usually dislike what are generally considered metal guitar bodies despite (obviously) being a metal guy, and being relatively alternative in style... But the ESP alternative shapes always catch my eye. Shame every signature bass that has done so in the past two years didn't have a 5 string...
The tuning stability is great. Even if I switch from drop EA to drop C to F standard in any given 30 minutes, it will be in whatever tuning I put it in last. The new nut was perfect, I used the Graphtech TUSQ XL 1354-00 slotted nut for 54.4mm width replacement. The tuners I used are the gold...
I installed Tone Ninja locking tuners, and ended up changing to a black TUSQ XL nut. Other than that and thicker gauge strings that keep well down to C, no other mods, and still my favorite ERG I have played.
