Hello all, I'm hoping to get some opinions or thoughts to help me decide which of these 2 amps to be rid of.
Peavey 6505+ or Peavey JSX (I think I already know the obvious answer for most people but hear me out)
The 6505+ is my 4th iteration of this amp that I've owned. I don't really get...
Hiya,
Thinking about buying a Line 6 helix (the floor version) because I'm tired of tap dancing when playing live. Also I've just recorded a new record with my band and we made some sounds in the studio that would be very hard for me to recreate with the pedals and setup I currently have.
Now...
I managed to get my buddy's 6505+ to compare it to my 5150 III.
Mic position is the same, it's a Mesa oversized cab with V30's and used a shure SM57.
I just copied the eq settings and it actually comes really close high gain wise.
I think with some more tweaking they can sound almost identical...
So I've just made my first ever foray into the digital realm with a purchase of a Zoom UAC-2. The last 6 months of total working from home has given me plenty of time to evaluate my life choices and has got me back into guitar playing after several years off. And rather than noodling around, I...
Hey guys, First post!!:wavey:
So, I recently picked up a peavey 6505+ head, it's kind of my first REALLY high gain amp. I've noticed when the gain is up pretty high, theres an interesting"static" type of sound i can hear when I'm not playing. It's not like any hum i've heard, kind of...
can the 6505+ be EQ'd to sound the same as the 6505? who has
done this? and were you successfu? how different do the two amps
REALLY sound?. i want to buy the 6505 due to its apparently
more aggressive lowmids sound but have recently found out that
the + version has a 3rd button on the foot...
the original 6505 comes with a 2 button foot switch that controls
rhythm and lead channels and the 6505+ comes with the 3 button
foot switch that controls the 2 channels while the 3rd button turns
the fx loop on and off right? can i use the 3 button foot switch
with original 6505?
im getting one of these heads soon. im leaning more towards
the 6505 due to it having more lower mids making it thicker, "meatier".
ive read up as much as i can about the two and often come across someone saying that the 6505 is too "woofy/boomy" in the
low end. is .... gonna get all muddy in...
Just a quick comparison. Some people prefer the 6505's rhythm channel with crunch on over the lead channel. Here both channels are boosted with my ts-9. Excuse me butchering Periphery a bunch hahaha. Recorded with my iPhone so sorry if the audio isn't too good.

I don't have any studio monitors so my mixing probably isn't the best lol, but any pointers, especially on mixing vocals would be a huge help to me.
Gear used: M-Audio fast track, Gibson Les Paul standard (Seymour Duncan...
I feel it's time soon for me to upgrade the current gear I have. I currently own a Line 6 Spider IV and while I feel tones I get from it are satisfactory I feel like I could be getting a better sound. I've contemplated getting the Peavey 6505+ 112 combo because it seemed like a very solid amp...
Hi all,
My younger brother purchased a Peavey 6505+ 112, a Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor, A Boss Compressor (the blue pedal), a Boss 7-band EQ, and a Way Huge Green Rhino Mk. II Overdrive pedal.
He is getting into Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Mushuggah, and Keith Merrow type stuff. I play...
So I was bored and decided to experiment with blending amps. The classic 50 is a tweed amp and by no means metal, but with a tubescreamer anything is possible lol. I eq'd the low end out of the Classic 50 and kept the high end, and kept the low end of the 6505 and eq'd out the high end. The 6505...
My fellow musicians,
I've been looking for pro/semi-pro gear and I've come across this amp. The H&K Coreblade. It seems to have some really sweet features that I could definitely implement in my band, as we are somewhat versatile, but I'm on the fence because I was thinking of the Peavey...
I did a cover of Keith Merrow's song Top Romulan from Retrospecial in my makeshift home studio.
Took me forever to program the drums how he did in the song. lol
Hope you guys like it!

It seems I can't get a good tone or overall quality from the RP through my 6505+'s dirty channel. The clean channel sounds near great, but when I switch to the dirty channel my tone sounds like a cat scratching a chalkboard and has no sustain, the reverb sounds awful, effects like chorus are non...
