I know it's been a while, but I'm bumping for a good reason I suppose!
Some more pictures from the workshop.
Interesting fact... All of those things behind it are organ pipes. Even the ones it's leaning against that are about a foot in width - they're 16 feet long!

Wide boy!
Embarking on an epic quest of chiselling and rasping!
Couple of hours later... The rosewood veneer over the volute will be a different shape-more like a teardrop. This is for a number of reasons, but basically I need the tuners to be fitted through a uniform thickness of headstock. The volute is so far back because of the position of the scarf joint-this is caused by the thickness of neck blank, the construction method itself and the fact it's a multiscale so I need more room behind the nut relative to a horizontal one. Or something.
Only a rough bit of shaping.
Big neck blank-about 6.5" wide.
Eatcho greens and weight gain 4000 Mat! You'll need to be one hell of a beefcake to haul this motherflipper around for a set or 2!!
