I'm pretty sure people can give out what opinion they want, even if it doesn't meet someone else's exacting standards. That is kinda the point of a forum. You can then come on and correct them if you see fit. At least, I thought that is how I thought it worked

I stand by my comments. The people who chimed in completely ignored what the poster was asking for and just listed blanket statements without putting any thought into it. The point of great forums like Sevenstring is thoughtfulness and insight, at least to me. I'm aware people can say whatever they want, but I was stressing that people actually listen and know what they're talking about before giving adamant advice.

Merry Xmas and good luck with whatever you choose :)

i have an alder bodied dinky that i have a dimarizio evolution in the bridge and it sounds amazing. that and the paf pro in the neck is a gantastic combo. and considering how low you will be tuning, you may want to look into a slightly brighter pickup than the tonezone as i saw mentioned. i had one before i swapped it out for a JB (which then got moved to a more suitable guitar) and eventually the evo. you do have a maple board though and that will add some high end compaired to my rosewood. but i also run 1 meg pots which add some snap in the peak area.

taking all that into consideration. i would recomend a brighter AlNiCo V or maybe a darker ceramic pickup.

if all else fails get an X2N and put a coiltap or series parallel switch on it. that pickup rules in everything, and it can smash through a vegas casino vault. sounds good tuned standard and tuned low. you won't need the clean boost any more either (wich personally i never got with the 5150/6505 line, i never turn my gain up past 6 or 7 cuz it compresses way TOO much after that)\\\

i forgot to mention that the dimarzio diactivator pickups are amazing as well. they have a really nice balanced tone with a quick attack. they were designed to be EMG killers, and i think they sound tons better, and they dont need batteries which is a big plus on passive over active. i cant compair them to blackouts though as i have never actually played them myself. and the only times i have heard them has been through gear i wouldnt dare play normally, or way too many effects. i know ibanez has them installed in mahogany guitars, but they sound bitchin' in adler also.
