buying gold bullion

Does anyone invest in physical gold? I am looking at buying some for long term investment so I was looking for reputable dealer. Mostly 1oz pieces. There are several dealers on the interwebs, but I have no clue which are legit or reputable. I have done the precious metals stocks/funds before but wanting to go a different rout this time. Something I might can give out as gifts as the years go long.

Kitco is pretty much the favored dealer from what I've heard through various colleagues. They source all theirs direct from Mints around the world.
