I have an Agile Interceptor Pro 727. Has a 27" neck. I want to use this for my Drop G tuning.

Also, I have a Schecter Damien Platinum 7. 26.5" neck. I want to use this for my Drop A tuning.

Any thoughts on string gauges. Anything I should consider? Both of these guitars are stock.

I like a 9-62 for drop A on both 25.5 and 26.5 but this is just my preference. Its worth mentioning that I am not a particularly hard picker.

If you are tough picker could be worth bumping that up 10-66, heavier strings produce more punch but the trade of is not worth it for me. Hopefully you find what you are looking for.

I have an Agile Pendulum Pro (25.5-27"multiscale) and I use NYXL1164 for GDGCFAD. I would bump the G string up to 66 or 68 though since the 64 tends to be a little floppy.

I also have a Schecter C-7 FR SLS Elite (26.5 Neck) in GDGCFAD and use NYXL1050BT + 68 which I've found to be the perfect tension for me. For AEADGBE I would personally do the NYXL1059 set and replace the 59 with a 62.

Also, If you don't do it yourself, I would recommend you get both guitars professionally setup with whatever strings you decide.

I have two guitars in drop G one is 27" and the other is 26.5".
I use 10-52+72 for both but you can get away with a 70 or even a 68 depending on your playing.

For drop A you can try a 9-48+64 or 66

11-64 would work fine, maybe a 68 if you want more tension. Best is to try different strings since we all have different preferences.

Appreciate all the feedback. Very helpful. I have a 56 on my Agile right now since I wasn't sure what to get. Horrible mistake... its like playing with a wet noodle.

Onto pickups... probably gonna set the Agile up with Fishman Fluence Modern neck/bridge, possibly a Lundgren M7. For the Schecter I can't make my mind up... trying to choose between...

1. SD Pegasus/Sentient
2. DiMarzio Liquifire neck and Illuminator Bridge
3. Bare Knuckle Juggernaut or Aftermath necks/bridges

I may also just keep the 81-7 and 85-7 that came stock on it.

Any takers?

One easy way to get good gauges without adding a bunch of single strings, at least in this particular case, would be to use a 10-74 8 string set and a 9-46 6 string set and mix/match a few strings.

The 27" Agile in drop G would get the 8 string set, but without the 64. So 10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 54, 74.

The Schecter in drop A would get the 9-46 set plus the 64 from the 8 string set.

I've used the 10-74 setup on a friend's 26.5" Schecter and it felt good, so the extra half inch in scale length wouldn't hurt the tension/feel IMO. Plus I use a similar 9-64 set on my 7620 in drop A and like the feel of it :yesway:

Can you elaborate on the multiscale? I am not sure how that works compared to my 27" Agile.
