btw, can anyone explain the differences between the years/revisions? I know some have external bias adjustment, but beyond that, no idea. I think when I was researching Dragons, the consensus seemed to be that people preferred the earlier ones for some reason.

I’m curious myself, I did a little digging. These threads have some good info, who knows how accurate.

I found this interesting too regarding my channel switching issue:

I have a V1 but I’ve never compared it to an other version in person.

Here's inside of my Dragon. As you can clearly see both big boards are stamped Cobra V5. The smaller board by the channel switches has a part labelled Dragon. Not sure what that is. Can someone point out the optocouplers?

Following this closely, if we figure out how to get the channels to switch again I’ll be thrilled.

The optocouplers are the IC's on the main board

also lmao look how outdated that embedded system is. Look at that massive through-hole XO!

You want to send me, a stranger on the internet, your amp for a month or two so I can spin up a new control board with only like an 80% guarantee of success?

Dooeeeeit.

Unrelated, but man is it hard to get facts on these amps and revisions. Look at this thread:

Hate to have to go by mainly one guy (and one supporter) on their opinions of V1 being less fizzy. I wonder if this could be a block letter situation where older amps shipped with older tubes and the tubes are really the culprit behind the fizz issues.
