I'm looking to get an Ibanez Prestige and I'm having trouble deciding between these 2 guitars.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/82598/...tige-Electric-Guitar---Nebula-Green-Burst.htm
https://www.long-mcquade.com/80748/...restige-RG-w-Silky-Oak-Top---Sunset-Burst.htm

I like the idea that one has a single coil in the middle, but I'm not sure if I want to spend $2k on a guitar with a floyd rose. I've never owned a guitar with a floyd rose and I'm not sure if it's worth it to spend that much on my first, or if I'll even use it to begin with.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I personally like the Floyd one better, because it has an oak top, which is pretty unique. And the Floyd is a plus. Pretty nice Floyd too, original edge. Better to start out with a pricier Floyd so you don't end up with a crap one that destroys your opinion on the trem.
However the other one has an ash body, which is pretty cool too. I like the nebula finish as well. Reminds me of polyphia. Maybe if you choose to go with the Floyd one try out the version of the hardtail with a floyd? They are gorgeous guitars imo.

Both look great in my opinion. I think the deciding factor is the trem vs. non-trem issue. If you're not interested in a trem then skip it and grab the 652.

I don't have any experience with the Ibanez floyds, but as long as its a good one, you shouldn't have any issues. I have guitars with floyds, one with an original and one with a 1000, and they're great. Come to think of it, I was playing one, then got the other and placed the old one in storage. After about 3 years I went and got it out and it retained perfect tuning. You really don't have to use the trem like Dime did just to like it. For the most part, I don't mess with the arm too much. I actually just like the feel of the bridge itself.

Get the 657. I just bought one a few weeks ago and it's the best guitar I've ever touched. Even better than custom shop stuff that I've played in the past.

EDIT: And if you don't like the trem system you can just block it and make it a hard tail. Best of both worlds. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Floyd is a much bigger deal than a single coil

with the 5 way switch you don't really need that single coil anyways

You really can't go wrong with either, so whichever you like best.

But you asked for opinions, so for me, I'd 100% go with the green fixed bridge. I think that looks amazing with the maple fretboard. Plus I've never liked sunburst tops at all and hate floyds. My 2 cents....

My recommendation is to avoid a locking tremolo if you aren't dead set on having one. Too many negatives to contend with if you don't really need or want it. Even blocked Floyds are more of a hassle than a typical fixed bridge or decked non-locking tremolo.

So don't go floyd.

Personally, I'd go with the floyd model, because it's an Original Edge, which is an awesome trem. However, floyds require some time until you "get the feel" on how to setup them properly, and it may lead to frustration in your case.

As echoed, don't go with the trem model unless you're willing to commit to using one.

You can get away with single coil-esque tones with how Ibanez wires their 2H+5 way setup.

I personally don't use FR-type trems so I'm biased, but I'd still probably go for the hard-tail because of the pick-up configuration. As previously mentioned, Ibbys are wired in such a way that you can still get a convincing single-coil tone even with an HH set-up.

Definitely the second one. Tremolo for the win.
