Hey folks. Im currently in the market for acquiring a 6 string Ibanez Prestige to meet my Standard D - Drop C needs mainly for playing technical death metal (Death, The Faceless, Necrophagist, The Zenith Passage, etc), and have stumbled across these two models.

RG1570 & RG1450. Due to the guitar not being in close proximity for me, theres a high probability that I would have to acquire either one without being able to try. With this being said, I am wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with them, or can actually speak a little about them in terms of how they may compare. They are both priced similarly, but any insights for these two would be greatly appreciated. Both have very similar specifications aswell which makes it quite difficult for me to decide currently.

Here are some pictures for both of them. I thank you guys in advance and look forward to hearing some responses!

Any particular reason? Ive noticed that 1450 is a newer model (production date 2010 - 2013), whereas the 1570 is 2003 - 2009. Were the former years better by any chance when it comes to quality, craftsmanship? Also, I'm thinking of removing the middle pickup and having a pickguard may allow me to do that as I can have a new pickguard cut without having the middle pickup.

Honestly, just flip a coin or go with the colour you like.

They're essentially the same guitar, with the noticeable difference in the pickguard. That at least can allow you to mod the pickup config to your liking, and even then you can do that with the 1570 too, albeit you don't mind a few more mods.

RG1570. They're so good that I decided to buy two. Honestly, the main reason is that I like the internally mounted barrel jack that almost all Prestiges have and dislike the externally mounted jack that has the square plate that the RG1450 has. Never had a guitar with one of those where I didn't have to occasionally tighten it. However, it's such a minor point of frustration that it probably shouldn't matter to people who aren't as picky as me. Pick the one with the color you like if the jack doesn't bother you as much as it would bother me.

Sounds like you want the 1450.

Same guitar, one with pickguard and other without. This carries a minor difference beyond looks though, which you may or may not notice, depending on how sensitive your fingers are (I do notice).

The pickguard is a few millimeters thick, so it raises the guitar surface where you right hand fingers touch. This has the effect of the strings being closer to the guitar body. You may like this... you may dislike this... or you may never notice this.

Personally, I do notice, and I prefer Ibanez guitars (which I do love) with pickguards.

So, as always... if you could test them, you'd be able to have your best judgement.

Coin flip. Pretty sure the necks on my 1570, 2570 and 2550e are identical. I use the 1570 more than the other 2, it's got more mojo :p

There's something nostalgic about the RG1570. I think it's a staple of 2000s Ibanez Prestige. No Prestige collection is complete without one.

Love me a cheeky RG1570. That's why I own two. :)
