Lets get the good stuff out the way first then shall we?!
Firstly can I just start by saying in all my years of buying guitars not once have I purchased an instrument from a store that has arrived with a decent setup. That is till today . I don't know whether the guys from Thomann actually set these up before shipping but to get from Germany to the UK in a cardboard box in playable condition is nothing short of a miracle
Ok, so I've been on the lookout for a new bass for a while, and with the Pound at such a good rate against the Euro it seemed logical for me to jump on this. Retail in the UK is roughly £450-599 on this bass but I managed to snag it for £384
Beautifully light, I've played the SR505 before and was expecting something of a similar weight but this is great. I have back problems from a car accident a few years back and this is super comfortable to play, no issues with any neck dive either.
Pickups have a great response and handle the low end very well. There's a set of Bartolini Mk1's already loaded in this and I don't think I'll be swapping them out for a while. The string setup is a little light for me, so I'm going to get my tech set it up with a .145 on the low B for that little extra bite.
All in all a great little player, I'm going to take her out on the road later this year and see how she fares, but for the money I'm far from complaining at the quality.
