Retired bassist pretending to play guitar
And now for something kind of different from what is usually posted here.
This was 1 in 4 of the first batch of this body style Chase Gullet made. It's has toured the world with the guitarist from Rust Root (if you've seen Matilda or Ice Age you know their huge hit). I've been told it like a '64 firebird and a '59 Les Paul
Besides the obvious hard ware, this guitar is completely hand made. It has has a mahogany body with a gorgeous flame maple cap, a 24.75" scale mahogany neck with a bound rosewood(?) fret board, crown inlays and unbleached bone nut. It has a nitro finish and the electronics are Seymour Duncan '59 pick ups.. I may change those but Chase encouraged me to give them a chance with high gain and fuzz so I am.
Being an older fart (56 years) that like most forms of metal I've been playing a lot of proto doom on this like Sabbath, Sleep St, Vitus and the like.
The phase of the day is "German carve"
On the bench for minor work- strap locks and a string change.
Chase's old "Chasing Vintage" logo.
Hand written serial number and signature under the nitro.
The German carve provides a cool "double binding" effect.
This kind of reminds of my PRS lower horn...kinda
Rear German carve- lots of real estate past that bridge
I love me a reverse head stock!
The details like this end of the fret board is what impresses me. The design is well thought out all over.
Now this is a beautiful slab of wood....
