Hey guys, so I've had a Carvin being built with a custom finish. There's about a 99% chance you recognize it.

Picture I sent in to be matched:

I got them to try and replicate Misha's Mayones 8 as it's one of my favorite finishes. Once I got the green light I finished speccing it out.

Walnut neck and body - Gloss
Birdeye Maple Fretboard - Tung oiled
Birseye maple headstock to match top color
"Lagoon Burst" quilt maple top (which I must say is an absolutely stunning quilt)
Rosewood Knobs
25.5" neck, 24 frets
Coil splitters (which I didnt actually ask for but got for free anyways and I'm glad I did)
Sperzel Locking tuners
Fixed Bridge
Stainless steel Med Jumbo frets
And of course, 7 strings :shred:

Note: these are raw sound clips into Pod Farm. I recorded it at 2am so it's slightly sloppy and I apologize for that!

I was gunna replace the PUPs but I actually really dig the stock ones so far. They're ultra transparent and the lead tones are exactly what I've been looking for. The low end is a bit shrill and "single coily", so I might toss a Blackhawk in the bridge, but the neck PUP is flawless so far. It's ridiculously easy to play, the stainless steel frets plus the tung oiled fret board makes it stupidly easy to play. The neck pocket is so comfortable, absolutely no access issues, and I have wide hands  The fact it's almost entirely walnut is not an issue, it's not too heavy at all. In fact the Walnut helps deepen the sound. Through my Valveking 112 the clean tones are just stellar. As I said before the lower distorted stuff is a bit harsh but a bit of EQing can help with that alot.

Overall I'm super psyched about this guitar. At first I was bummed that the center wasn't extremely clear, but it's really grown on me and the fact it plays and sounds so good helps alot to.

Hope you guys enjoyed it :agreed:

This DC727 is brutally beautiful! The finish came out great from what I can tell. For some reason, it looks to me almost like an inverted dragonburst. Oh, and the coil splitters are actually a stock option on all DC7x7s! You'd have to specify if you don't want them. Glad to know you like them though! I love mine on my DC727 :D. Congrats on that sexy thing! :)

Gorgeous burst, looks different than the Mayo (for the better, IMO, but that's entirely personal preference :D) but I really dig how that turned out. Reminds me of what most folks call "Caribbean burst" and that's one of my faves! :yesway: Carvin should make this a standard finish option a'la dragonburst.

Thank you all for the kind comments!

Also, the sun finally decided to come out for literally just long enough for me to snap a few photos

Nice! I was gonna try and do something similar except with purple a few months ago, but just never came about. This looks awesome, glad Carvin was able to accommodate you!

Man, that's awesome! Better than the Mayo one, IMO. This has a really nice gradation, which is nice.
