I walked into GC to return a pedal and saw they had a Mark IV combo, so I figured I'd mess around with it for awhile. I went and looked around for something with decent pickups when I saw this JP sitting behind the counter. Asked the dude if it was sold, he said no, so I asked to check it out. Starting playing it and thought "Damn this thing is pretty awesome." Checked out the price tag...$1699 on clearance.

I brought it back up front to ask about it some more. They said it had been there for a year and a half with no bites, so they had just marked it down. I said cool I'll take it... Then they couldn't find the case. Apparently someone had given it away with the wrong guitar. So they gave me a free Road Runner case, and took another $175 off.

So after all was said and done it cost me $1,525.

..but apparently not everyone thinks that's as exciting as I do..

Congrats and that's a fucking sick deal on a rad guitar!! I wouldn't say your dog is looking unenthused, looks like s/he is just bathing in the satisfaction of being near such a sick guitar.

Many congrats! What a beautiful guitar and a great, great deal! If I was ever to venture back to getting an EBMM, this is the one model I would get!

It's always nice to get a new guitar... congrats!

How’s the nut height? In some photo angles, it seems high, whereas in others it seems low. Also, what’s the pull-up range on the recessed floyd?

That model didn’t get much love and honestly it makes for some bargain prices. Great score.

The nut height is fine. I haven't gotten out a feeler gauge to check, but the action was low already and I lowered it even more and still have no buzzing issues anywhere.

I haven't messed with the Floyd that much, but it feels a little stiff. I didn't look because I don't use it that much, but my guess is that there's 4 or 5 springs on it instead of 3, which reduces the range. Obviously you can adjust that, but I probably won't.

You have the trem arm for the Floyd, too, right? Just looks weird in the photos without it installed.

Love that fretboard!!! When the brown streaked ebony boards first started appearing more often I hated them, but they have really grown on me. Yum!

HNGD. I owned one of these for a while but just couldn't gel with the thin neck. I loved everything else about the guitar though, especially the aesthetics.
The 16s were never popular probably due to the lack of Piezo and Floyd pro bridge which didn't sit well with the purists. These should have been priced around 1600-1800 new, all things considered IMO. I think I read somewhere these have been discontinued for good?
