Needed a switch knob for the Blackguard. I could order one but this is a cheap prototype so lets grab a piece of ABS and make a knob. Can't be that hard. I didn't use the drill press to drill the hole so the first 2 ended up being a bit crooked. After finally getting a straight hole I rounded it on the belt sander, sanded it with a 180 grit sponge and buffed it on the buffer wheel.

This is why I hate using CA for a sealer. Big yellow discoloration. There are also yellow streaks on the front and it gums up the sand paper really quick.

3 coats of clear before going to the color. This way I can level it before the burst without worrying about cutting through.

Almost time for the 2014 version of this thread.

Getting some 54 strat clones built and a set of Quarterpounders (because of the .25" A5s)

Getting the control plate and pickguard fitted.

I am using stainless steel flat heads instead of philips because I want a vintage look.

Time to assemble the Blackguard.

I have not found any lightweight .25" shaft knobs for it yet. I have got to have some somewhere...

The "tone bar" style string retainer was the last piece to cut out on the CNC. I am going to make the string cups smaller on the later models. Originally I was still going to use string ferrels but there is no point.

Beautiful work!

You're brave to use those tables for spraying.
I've got about 5 beers in my carpet from those shitty tipsy tables
Slightest bump = table takes a tumble.

My guitar would fall in the grass if I tried that.
Or worse, fall onto the cement.

Thanks for the warning. True. Those tables are useless for anything other than starting fires. However I charge extra for "relic" Teles...

See the box under the table. It has 2 heavy duty Jeep Cherokee coil springs in it.

I don't spray customer guitars hanging from them... beater telecaster prototypes are a different thing. Dents make them worth more.

PS: Don't drink the beer until you are done spraying. Its all about procedure.

Funny enough there is at least 1 bug in the finish. Perfect with the spread wings...adds to the mojo.

Don't spray outside.
