I believe it's an actual copper top that has oxidized. Then it's sealed with a clear coat so it stays that way.

Yeah, so I was just posting on FB. It's very, very well made. I've had some small-company MIK guitars before, and was a bit disappointed. But this seems really well done. Fret ends super nice, FB rounded over very well (unlike some other photos of the earlier protos I saw), paint is perfect, action is really good, inlays are great, and there is a rather large amount of FB edge beyond the highest and lowest strings, which is cool. I've had a couple of guitars where the strings are dangerously close to falling off the edge, so I'm glad that's not the case here. The neck is a good C carve and isn't not crazy thin. I have no huge issue with neck carves, but I know some people are picky about it. This doesn't strike me as too thin or too thick. And it's not painted or glossed, which is great. My push pull pot is loose when I pull up, so I have to either tighten the knob or figure out what to do. It functions perfectly fine, but in the up position it's a little wiggly. And the action is at about 1.25 mm now, with zero buzzing, so I'm going lower! I like to be at about 1mm (at the 12th), and I'm sure I can get there on this. And 29 frets! So cool.
The orange is much more coppery and metallic than you can see in the photos so I'll try to get some good pics this weekend. Overall I'm really impressed with this. It feels very much like my old Jackson SL1, and that's a really good thing!

Between the pics and reviews of the prototypes, I think my problem is that I didn't buy 3 or 4 GTR's.

Hearing all these reviews makes me so happy i paid in full straight away for a purple hype from the first production rather than waiting it out for one of the extras. It's going to be a tense few days when they all start shipping for us guys though.

1st run hits Australia this week and spares will be available once the initial orders are shipped out to owners.
