Stretching the definition of the "standard guitars" forum section, I admit, ha!

How about guitars that appear to be constructed like a traditional electric guitar, but just happen to have no magnetic pickups, and only piezo systems. (Both simple "acoustic" preamps and Synth/midi allowed.)

Full disclosure, these next couple Kiesel Icon basses are cheating because they don't have a peizo, and were simply build without pickup/control routes so that the customer could do the exact non-standard routes he needed himself...but they still have the "look":

Damn, those PRS's are fucking sick! The sculpture one is doing it for me even though it is kind of weird.

Sometimes when I am out and about I will loose my train of thought as one of these pops into my head:

Ibanez had the SC500N S Classic model, nylon string to boot. And I'd say the Kiesel Zeus acoustic would count, they cut a soundhole in it but it's still built the same as an electric.

Ooh, that's an interesting one. I'm torn on it, though, because it's got an acoustic bridge and that slotted headstock, but still...that's super cool.

It's funny, because these things only look cool to us, because we know what's missing. I'd be willing to bet my wife would have no idea what we're drooling over.

I always thought the NS-1 was cool, strictly because it had no sound hole or pickup. That's the OG, in my book.

Ha, indeed!

An interesting thought, because they are like the reverse of the other guitars mentioned, which are meant to take the place of an electric-acoustic but with electric styling...while the NS1 is looks like an acoustic, but meant to take the place of an electric-acoustic with more electric-guitar style construction.

It's also a neck-though, which is fun for what's supposed to be an "acoustic"*

Though for an "acoustic"... 😅

You can also get the CC275 (another neck-through, but 25" steel string) without the soundhole:

But again...

a few of the Variax models are piezo only but have all that added modeling along with it

and if we're including nylons like the Ibanez SC500N then that's where the TOD10N comes into the picture, and competes with Godin's Multiac

Likewise, Lâg also had that Khezia Jones signature model with nylon strings.

Shit, this is the coolest thread to pop up in a while. I'd been thinking about something like this lately... not sure if any of these really nail it but the black PRS sculpture and the hollowbody both really do it for me. Can't justify $15k in such a thing though :D

How do you feel about the "ghost" dimples where there would normally be controls? I'm torn because I'm not sure if I like them just because of the novelty. 🤣

Ha, my only dilemma. I think the hollowbody shows that not doing them is best. Or at least when you have an f-hole.
